This study recruited 60 women with fibromyalgia. 30 were randomly chosen to participate in a resistance exercise programme. The other 30 participated in a relaxation program based on “sophrology”, a technique aimed at achieving serenity. No differences in pain were found between the groups. Resistance training was more effective than sophrology in improving strength and functional capacity of women with fibromyalgia.
