Running injuries are very common. The authors of this paper sought to investigate injury risk factors. These varied by gender, age and training pattern. 3,768 runners completed a questionnaire 4 weeks before a run and one week afterwards. Statistical models for short- and long-distance runners did not differ significantly. Previous injuries increased the risk of a running injury in all models, while more training kilometers per week decreased this risk.
